Custom officers in the northern province of Cao Bang have just seized 315 king cobras in a car which was bounding for China earlier this week.
Nguyen Tien Cuong, 32, failed to show the origin of the king cobras, police said, adding that the snakes, carried in several nylon bags in the back of his car, weigh 483 kilos in total.
The car was stopped on Thursday in the bordering district of Ha Lang, just kilometers away from China, police said, without mentioning the snakes' condition.
Cuong admitted to have planned to traffic the snakes into the neighboring country, selling them at a profit.
Further investigations are ongoing.
