A man was arrested in Hanoi Saturday for accusations that he slandered a senior city official via mobile messages and online complaints.
Police in Hanoi said Bui Duc Minh, 37, had sent messages to many of the city leaders and lodged complaints online against Nguyen Huu Do, director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
According to the police, Minh's opposition to Do began after his divorce in April 2010, following which his wife changed the schools of their two children many times, causing him to have difficulties in seeing the children.
Minh assumed the school shifting was deliberately done against him and that it had something to do with Do.
But investigations have found the complaints untrue, police said.
At Minh's house, they found more than 200 SIM cards that had been used to send the accusing messages.
