Police in the northern province of Hai Duong on Friday said they have seized a man who allegedly set a house of fire which resulted in four people being injured on Tuesday.
Pham Van Tra, 54, told the police that he had had an argument with the house owner Nguyen Van Cao and decided to take revenge.
Tra said he poured a can of gasoline into Cao’s house just after midnight Monday and then started the fire.
Four people in the house - Cao, his wife, daughter and grandson - were alerted by their neighbors.
In an attempt to escape, Cao jumped down from the third floor and broke his leg and arm. The other family members were rescued by neighbors and suffered from smoke inhalation injury.
All the victims are being treated at a local hospital.
Cao’s house was burnt down, police said, adding that the damage was around VND1billion (US$45,000).
