A man is in police detention in Hanoi's Dich Vong police after he punched, kicked and spat at police officers who arrived on the scene of a traffic accident that involved his car.
Nguyen Van Hieu, 31, faces charge of attacking officers on public duties, the ward police said.
Hieu's car collided with another car at 6 p.m. on August 25 at an intersection in Dich Vong Ward. 
When traffic police officers arrived at the scene and asked to meet two drivers, Hieu refused to step out of his car or rolling down his car window. 
When he finally stepped out of the car 15 minutes later, reeking of alcohol, Hieu shouted at the officers, spat on them and the threw punches and kicks at them.
As Sergeant Major Truong Hoang Long tried to cuff one of his hand, Hieu "grabbed my baton and lashed it in my face," Long said.
