Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly attacking a traffic police officer after he was pulled over.
Nguyen Tan Phong of District 12 is being investigated for resisting a police officer with violence, police said.
The incident happened at around 4 a.m. on August 11 when a traffic police officer, who was not identified, pulled Phong over for violating traffic rules near the An Phu Bridge on the National Highway 1A.
According to the police, Phong insisted that the officer let him off without a ticket. When the officer refused Phong called in a friend and they started attacking him.
A video clip recorded by a passer by and later posted on YouTube showed a man putting an officer in choke hold while the officer himself tried to grab hold of another man.
Other passers-by managed to help the officer subdue the two men.
The police said the officer was slightly injured in his face.
