Police in Binh Duong Province on Monday have arrested a man who has confessed to a murder last week, VnExpress reported Tuesday.

Le Hong Thanh, 21, a Binh Duong local, turned himself in to the police on January 7, admitting that he had killed Mai Hoang Thai, 27, from the adjacent province of Dong Nai.

Thanh told police that he and Thai had been involving in an ongoing quarrel over what Thanh deemed Hai's "unacceptable" behavior.

Thai and his friends often hung out at the bar where Thanh worked, according to Thanh.

In order to "abate [his] anger," Thanh claimed his actions of early last Friday morning were premeditated. He followed Thai to a deserted stretch of Le Hong Phong Street in Thu Dau Mot Town and stabbed him to death.

Locals in Thu Dau Mot's Phu Hoa Ward called the police when they found Thai dead next to a lamppost a couple hours later, his body littered with stab wounds.
