A group of Thai, Vietnamese and Lao businesses last weekend donated to flood victims in Thailand 40 round coracles that it bought from central Vietnamese boat makers, Saigon Tiep Thi reported Monday.
The gifts conveyed a message of humanity and encouraged Thai farmers to learn to make coracles to cope with floods, the report quoted Kieng Mekvasedpun, the business group leader, as saying.
The donation was made at a meeting in Bangkok last weekend. The coracles can transport people and goods of between 500 kilograms and 1,500 kilograms
The group plans to donate another 40 coracles to Thailand, according to Mekvasedpun.
