The driver of a luxury car appeared to have died behind the steering wheel moments before his vehicle crashed into a minibus in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.
At around 7 a.m. the Mercedes driven by Nguyen Duy Viet, 56, was seen running into the rear end of the 16-seater bus, which stopped at a red light at the corner of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Ham Nghi in District 1.
Eyewitnesses did not see the Mercedes moving after the crash, so they opened the door of the car and found Viet sitting motionlessly, with his head on the steering wheel and foaming mouth.
They brought him out but said he was already dead.
Police arrived at the scene and towed the Mercedes away. They said Viet was a driver for a travel company in the city.
The investigation continues.
