Two restaurant employees in southern Vietnam had a fortunate escape Tuesday after a motorbike thief's gun failed to go off when they were giving chase.
At around 3.30 in the morning two men came on a motorbike and grabbed a 32-year-old woman's Honda Air Blade bike as soon as she arrived outside Nhat Phuong Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City's Binh Tan District.
Pham Hung Cuong and his colleague chased after the men upon hearing Tam's cries for help.
One of the robbers pointed a gun at them but it did not fire. Thinking the gun was fake, they continued to pursue them, police said.
The robber on the stolen bike fell off suddenly and left behind the vehicle and two guns in his anxiety to flee.
The police said the guns included a Chinese-made K59 gun with four bullets inside, though it is not known which gun failed to go off.
