A tropical low pressure system with wind speeds of 40-60 kilometers and gusts of up to 90 km is moving close to Vietnam's southern coast, causing rough seas in the area.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said in a statement the system was spotted Thursday evening around 350 km off the south-central coast.
It forecast the storm to move at 25 km per hour toward the mainland and weaken into a low pressure area around Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces late Friday.
The center warned of possible thunderstorms, strong winds, and downpours in the central and southern regions.
