A commune Party deputy chief in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has been dismissed from his post for beating up a woman after failing to seduce her, newswire VnExpress reported.

Tran Van Tuong, deputy secretary of Cam Son Commune Party Committee, Cai Lay District, was also accused of using a fake high school degree as a credential.

Last month, a woman identified only as O. lodged a complaint with the Cai Lay District Party Committee against Tuong for attempting to seduce her and beating her up after she rejected him.

The woman said Tuong beat her face black and blue and her eyes swelled.

After the woman's family gathered at the Cam Son Commune Party Committee office looking for revenge, he offered the woman's family a sum of money as compensation.

The woman turned down the request and filed complaint against him.

A subsequent investigation by local Party inspectors found her allegation against Tuong was true.

Several commune officers also accused Tuong of using a bogus high school diploma, but investigations into that accusation are still under way.
