A six-year-old girl was hospitalized with critical brain injuries Thursday after falling from the second floor of her school in Ho Chi Minh City.
Trinh Thi Thu Van, a first grader at Kim Dong Elementary School in Binh Tan District, is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital after undergoing brain surgery to save her life.
On Wednesday, the second day of her school life, Van fell from the balcony on the second floor of the school, over four meters from the ground.
While her body fell on a grass lawn, her head the concrete pavement, which cracked her skull.
Van fell into a coma and was rushed to Binh Tan District Hospital, but was soon transferred to Cho Ray, where doctors conducted an emergency brain surgery to save her life.
She also suffered shoulder and arm injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of Van's fall.
