Two people, including a pregnant girl, are dead, and three are injured after being struck by lightning in Ho Chi Minh City's Hoc Mon District on Sunday, the online newspaper Dan Tri reported.
At around 4 p.m., Nguyen Van Ut, 21; his 17-year-old wife, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nguyen; Phan Van Nha, who had hired Ut to do farm work; and two brothers, Nguyen Van Thai and Nguyen Van Nhieu, took shelter in a hut in the middle of a field when it started raining.
Shortly after they entered the hut, lightning struck them, killing Nguyen and Nha on the spot.
Thai and Nhieu were thrown out of the hut and sustained slight burns. Ut suffered minor injuries.
Ut said he was hired by Nha, 29, to carry firewood for farm work four days earlier. On Sunday afternoon, his wife, Nguyen, came to the field to visit him.
Nguyen was one month pregnant, according to Ut.
