Several houses in Ho Chi Minh City were evacuated Wednesday after a five-story house under construction showed signs of leaning and sinking.
The house on Nguyen Thien Thuat street is currently 18 centimeters off center, and has caused cracks in a house next door.
Local construction inspectors said at least five houses nearby will be affected if the leaning house collapses.
Work at the house has been suspended after around seven months. The construction, carried out by Hoang Pham, Ltd., was near completion.
De, a neighbor, said there had been nights he had to run outside to check on everything after he heard loud noises. "Just as I was about to close my eyes, I heard more noises," said De.
Local police have already used rope and pillars in an attempt to stop the house from leaning any further.
The house is around 15 meters tall but only 2.5 to three meters wide.
