A woman and a child were killed in a landslide in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang Monday, Tuoi Tre reported.

Locals said the two, who are yet to be identified, were going by motorbike from Nguyen Binh District to Cao Bang town when hundreds of cubic meters of earth slid down from a nearby mountain and buried them.

Workers at a nearby construction site used shoveling machines and trucks in an effort to rescue them, but it took them a few hours by which time they were already dead, reports said.
