Three people were killed and another was injured when torrential rain caused a landslide in the northern province of Quang Ninh, Tuesday.

The slide took place in Ha Long Town, causing Pham Van Bay's house to collapse, burying his wife and 25-year-old daughter. Their bodies were retrieved later the same day.

The heavy rain, which fell for several hours, also destroyed a three-meter high dyke in Cam Pha Commune, killing Luu Dinh Vy, 29, on the spot and critically injuring Hoang Nghia Hanh, 26.

The two workers were staying at a boardinghouse near the dyke that had been rented by their employer, the Quang Hanh Coal Company.
