Jetstar Pacific Airlines on Wednesday said it had suspended a ground staff on suspicion of taking VND30 million (US$1,582) from a passenger's suitcase.

According to the low-cost carrier, a passenger on flight BL792 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi Wednesday morning had checked in the suitcase with the money. While he was waiting to board the flight, he remembered that he had left the money in the checked in suitcase and asked to get it back.

However, the money was not found when the suitcase was brought back. An investigation later found the money, the airlines said.

Jetstar has asked the staff whose identity has not been revealed to go on leave, and added they were investigating the case further.
