A Jetstar Pacific flight was delayed for an hour at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport Sunday after a passenger opened an emergency exit.
Flight BL598 to Da Nang was scheduled to leave at 7:50 p.m. But a passenger, identified only as T, opened an emergency door, prompting the evacuation slide to inflate.
It is not known why the person opened the exit.
The flight left an hour late after technicians closed the door and made sure of safety.
However, 34 passengers had to switch to a later flight because the evacuation slide had become unusable.
Incidents of passengers attempting to open and opening emergency exits are reported quite frequently in Vietnam.
Last year the Central Aviation Authority of Vietnam fined a Vietnam Airlines passenger VND20 million ($948) for doing so just as the aircraft was about to take off.
Tran Van Binh reportedly opened the door after the other passengers had settled into their seats on the flight from Hanoi to the Central Highlands town of Pleiku.
