Japanese falls victim to street crime in Vietnam

Police in Ho Chi Minh City are looking for two people who snatched a bag from a Japanese tourist early Monday morning, news website Dan Tri reported.

Matsumi Kawai, 27, told the police she was walking alone on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3, at around 3:30 a.m. when two young men on a motorbike approached her.

The one riding pillion snatched her bag which contained US$85, a camera, a tablet, and a mobile phone.

She cried for help, but there was no one around.


Elsewhere in the city, police in Binh Chanh District are looking for a six-member gang that robbed a motorbike from a 36-year-old man called Tu Thanh Hung.

They came on three motorbikes and hit him with helmets until he passed out, the victim told the police.
