Two Vietnamese cities will receive five fire trucks from Japan, according to an agreement signed on March 13.

The used fire trucks, worth more than US$51,000 in total, would be sent to Hai Phong and Da Nang, according to the agreement, which was signed by Le Quoc Tran, Director of the Fire Police Department of Hai Phong, and Japan's Ambassador in Vietnam, Yasuaki Tanizaki.

It was part of a project to upgrade the fire-fighting capability for eight cities and provinces in Vietnam, which was kicked off in Oct. 2010 in Hanoi. Japan has committed an estimated $88,345 to fund the project.
