The Hanoi police Sunday recommended charges against a teenage reform school inmate for allegedly beating a cellmate to death for washing their dishes carelessly.
Vu Van Binh will face charges of "injuring others," investigators said, adding they would also look into the management of Detention Center 3 in the capital.
Binh and his victim Do Dang Du, both 17, shared a room with two others, the police said.
Preliminary investigations determined that on October 4 Binh slapped Du and kicked him on the head several times after finding that the latter, who was on dish-washing duty, had left the dishes dirty.
Du passed out soon after the assault and was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed on October 10.
He was at the center since his arrest in August for theft.
Investigations are continuing.
