A fire broke out in Hanoi early Monday morning, destroying a 1,000-square-meter plasticware plant and causing losses worth billions of dong.
Initial information showed that the fire started at around 1.20 a.m. in a storage facility inside the plant belonging to Hanoi Plastic Joint-stock Company in Long Bien District.
It spread quickly despite workers' efforts to extinguish it.
The Hanoi fire brigade sent nine trucks and hundreds of firemen to the site, but the fire wasn't put out until after 5 a.m.
No casualties were reported and investigations into the accident's cause are now underway.
In related news, another fire wiped out a complex of storage facilities holding electronics, chemicals and footwear and covering over 6,000 square meters in the central city of Da Nang Sunday night.
The fire started at 7.30 p.m. in an electronics storage facility and didn't cause any casualties, local authorities said.
