Indonesia has seized seven Vietnamese fishing boats accused of poaching in the country’s waters, local media reported.
"Patrol boat Orca 003 herded the seven illegal Vietnam-flagged boats with 55 crew members of Vietnamese nationality to Natuna, Riau Islands, on June 12," Waluyo Sejati Abutohir, secretary of the ministry’s Directorate General for Maritime and Fishery Resources Supervision, told Antara News on Monday.
According to Indonesian authorities, the seven boats were caught Friday near Riau Islands.
They were reportedly fishing using pair trawls in the waters without legal documents from the Indonesian government.
