Rescuers have recovered the bodies of two miners killed when an illegal gold mine collapsed in Quang Nam Province Thursday afternoon.
Bui Quang Minh, chairman of Tam Lanh Commune People's Committee, said the accident occurred at around noon on Kem mountain.
The bodies of Nguyen Van Minh, 43, and Cam Minh Tam, 35, were found after rescuers took more than three hours to dig their way into the collapsed tunnel.
Chairman Minh said the mine collapsed deep underground, hindering rescue efforts.
Illegal gold mining has been going on in Quang Nam for dozens of years. Gold mine collapses have left at least 17 people dead since last year across the province.
