Five houses collapsed in Ho Chi Minh City Sunday, but no casualties were reported.
The incident happened in District 8 when, just after 4 p.m., Nguyen Van Thien's house which was under construction collapsed, causing four neighbouring houses to fall.
Local people said the houses had developed cracks and started to sink recently. The families living there had evacuated the same day, just before the incident occurred.
An official from Ward 3's People's Committee said the accident happened because of the house's weak foundations and unstable soil.
The house was built without a license and was located in an area reserved for a street project, according to an official who wished to remain anonymous.
