Heavy rains and rough waves ate away an embankment in Hoi An, affecting numerous resorts, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.
Strong waves ate away at the Cua Dai Embankment in Hoi An in recent weeks pushing waters deeper and deeper onto the shore.
Sea waves swallowed a five-meter-high concrete barrier at the five-star Fusion Alya, which is still under construction.
Heavy rains, strong winds and rough waves also swept away an iron fence and a makeshift rock barrier at the Hoi An Beach Resort.
The resorts’ management boards has transported thousands of tons of soil and rocks and hundreds of sandbags to beat back the erosion.
Nguyen Sinh, chairman of Cua Dai Ward People’s Committee, said the local authorities are reinforcing 137 meters of embankment between Fusion Alya and Vinpearl.
Work is expected to finish in the next few days.
