Ho Chi Minh City police said Monday they are still trying to find the motive behind a murder suicide in which a man allegedly killed and dismembered his uncle before hanging himself.
Police said Lam Kim La, 34, used a belt to hang himself in the bathroom. His body was discovered by his 38-year-old brother at around 11:30 a.m. on February 28.
Police then found a box containing severed body parts in La's room.
They also found three knives and a wooden chopping board in another box.
There were dry blood marks on the wall of the bathroom in which La was found dead.
Following an autopsy, police concluded the dismembered body was of his uncle Lam Chan Luong, who was living in the same house.
According to his family, La had shown some signs of depression recently.
Two days before the murder, they asked him where his uncle was and he answered that Luong had gone to a pagoda and would be back in a week.
