Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the central city of Da Nang Saturday night as roads became waterways, causing motorcycle breakdowns and battering homes and businesses.
Many streets in Thanh Khe, Hai Chau and Lien Chieu districts were engulfed in 50-centimeter floodwater.
There are 58 flood-prone areas around the city, according to the construction department.
Last month anti-flooding work started in 11 vulnerable areas out of them. Work in some of the remaining areas may begin next year, the department said.
