A heavy downpour flooded Ho Chi Minh City streets and uprooted trees, damaging cars and motorbikes on Friday afternoon.
The most flooded streets are Phan Anh, To Hieu and Nguyen Van Tien in Tan Phu District, Huong Lo 2, Hoa Binh, Binh Long, Thoai Ngoc Hau and Le Van Quoi in District Binh Tan, An Duong Vuong and Tan Hoa Dong in District 6.
With streets inundated in up to one meter of flood water, many motorbikes and cars broke down on Phan Anh and To Hieu Streets. Residents living along the street had to use sand sacks and thick wooden pieces to prevent the dark, dirty water from flowing into their houses.
They said the street had been flooded each time it rained for over the last month.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds threw a large tree branch into a seven-seater sedan on Hung Vuong Street in District 5, causing serious damage to its head. Luckily, four people in the car were not injured.
Around the same time, heavy rains uprooted a tree in a motorbike parking lot at Hoa Binh Theater in District 10, damaging around 100 motorbikes.
Total damage costs have not been calculated.
