The health department in the Central Highlands province Gia Lai on Thursday suspended six of its officials who are being investigated for corruption, causing losses of more than VND8.5 billion (US$404,600).
The officials together with Dang Duc Chau and Nguyen Cong Nhan, both vice directors of Gia Lai Department of Health, were accused of violating regulations on drug auctions in the province between 2008 and 2010, according to initial findings by Gia Lai's police.
Chau and Nhan were suspended by the provincial People's Committee on November 21.
Meanwhile, Doan Cuong, deputy chief of drugs division, and Pham Minh Hieu, deputy chief of health division, were arrested on November 18.
The case is being investigated.
