Ho Chi Minh City authorities approved Wednesday a project to build a new bronze statue of the late President Ho Chi Minh in front of city hall.
The 6.3-meter high statue is scheduled will be located in a small park in front of the headquarters of the HCMC People's Committee on Nguyen Hue Street in District 1.
The planned statue will replace a statue depicting President Ho Chi Minh with a child, which will be moved to another location in District 2.
The Ho Chi Minh City Hall was built 1902-1908 in the style of French colonial architecture. Illuminated at night, the building is not open to the public or for tourists.
