Ho Chi Minh City police said they had busted a drug smuggling ring and seized more than 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, local media reported.
The gang was allegedly led by Phan Anh Tuan, a Hanoi native, according to the police.
On the evening of March 10, the police checked a car and found 479 grams of meth and two guns. Two men in the car were arrested.
The men turned out to be members of the gang. Based on their testimonies, the police searched a hotel room that Tuan was staying in and seized around 10 kilograms of meth in plastic bags.
Tuan and four other gang members were then arrested.
He told the police he started the illegal trade in late 2015. He bought the drug from a female dealer named Huyen in Hanoi and sold it in HCMC.
Seven members of the gang, aged from 22-44, hail from Hanoi, HCMC and Phu Yen Province.
