Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested seven men and a woman who they say are members of a robbery gang that has preyed on female passengers waiting at bus stations since July.
The suspects, aged 27 to 57, were seized in different southern provinces. Police said they are still looking for Kim Chanh Tha, 26, believed to be the last member of the gang.
The group often waited inside a rented bus at corners near bus stations. Their targets were usually women who were waiting for long-distance buses alone.
Police said when they spotted their prey, the gang would push her onto the bus, where she would be robbed.
They then dropped the victim on a road around a hundred kilometers away, without any money.
Some female victims also reported that they had been sexually harassed.
The suspects admitted that they had abducted and robbed dozens of passengers since July, earning more than VND60 million, from cash and valuable belongings.
Victims of the gang are urged to report to the case's number: 090 397 1010.
