A taxi driver in Hanoi who had parked his car at noon Friday to grab an iced tea at a roadside stall had the shock of seeing the stall owner drive his taxi into a river.
The owner, who wanted to take the car for a joyride, hit a motorbike and then a road barrier before plunging into the To Lich River.
He managed to get out of the car and swam back to shore with the help of some passers-by.
The motorbike driver was slightly injured.
It took authorities more than half an hour to fish out the badly damaged car from the river.
The shop owner said all he had wanted was a “cool” drive.
