A foreign tourist on Wednesday asked Hanoi police to look for a taxi driver who stole his wallet and other belongings, newswire VnExpress reported.
Mark Anthony, an American tourist in his 50s, told the police he and a friend took a taxi belonging to Hanoi-based ABC Taxi Co. at around 1 p.m. on November 9.
Shortly after they got out of the taxi, Anthony realized he had dropped his wallet on the back seat.
As soon as he called to the taxi driver, the driver sped up and fled the scene.
Anthony told the police he had around US$1,700 of cash, his passport, a Visa card, a credit card and other papers in his wallet.
He said he would like to have his passport back to return to his country soon.
Police in Hanoi's Pham Dinh Ho Ward are looking for the driver, based on Anthony's description of him.
