Police in Hanoi on Tuesday arrested a Hanoi Power Corp. worker who cheated VND9 billion from people promising them that he could recruit them to work for the company.

Pham Quang Ha managed to copy real signatures and stamps of the corporation to recruitment notices to make himself trustworthy, local news website VnExpress reported.

The 30 year old, then working for a district power company that is a member of the corporation, cheated nearly 100 people, each around VND80 million (US$3,800) from October 2010.

All of his recruitment notices made the same appointment with those people at the company on July 20, 2011, which was when the job seekers realized they had been cheated.

Ha had spent most of the money in bars and dance clubs, he told the police. He has returned around VND2 billion to the victims.
