Hanoi police said Tuesday they had arrested a suspect in the murder of two members of a family in an apparent burglary on Monday.
Nguyen Van Ky, 45, was suspected to be involved in the killing of Nguyen Luong Chuan, 57, and his 27-year-old son Nguyen Luong Chinh in their house, said Duong Van Giap, head of Hanoi Police's Criminal Police Department, told a news conference in Hanoi Tuesday afternoon.
At around 1 a.m. on December 7 a burglar allegedly broke into the two-story house in Thach That District from the second floor.
He then went downstairs to search for valuables.
Chuan saw him and shouted for help.
The man allegedly stabbed Chuan to death. Chinh rushed over and was also killed.
Chuan's wife and other son were injured when trying to stop the burglar. They have recovered after treatment.
