The Vietnam Construction Import-Export Corporation has submitted to the government a plan to build a monorail route in the west of Hanoi, aiming to serve 60,000 passengers a day.
The company, also known as Vinaconex, said the 38 kilometer route will cost US$300 million, according to the Vietnam Economic Times. It will be built 4.5 meters above the ground and have 14 stations.
According to the plan, the monorail train will travel at average speeds of between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour. Ticket fares will be low and suitable for students and workers, the company said.
