Hanoi traffic police on Friday said they had fined a man who was caught urinating in public, right in the middle of the street earlier this week, local media reported.
According to Tien Phong newspaper, police tracked the man down after a Facebook user posted three pictures showing the well-dressed man urinating on a street barrier in front of many drivers, apparently while waiting for a red light on Huynh Thuc Khang Street on Tuesday.
Xuan Pham wrote on his Facebook page: “The light turned red. He stopped and hopped out of his car and just peed, like there was nobody around. Oh, my goodness!"
One of the photo shows the man walking back to his car in such a calm manner. The post was then shared by many.
Based on the photo that shows the car’s license plate, the police tracked down the man, Phan Thanh T., 32, and summoned him for questioning, Tien Phong reported. The newspaper did not explain why his full name has not been revealed.
The man admitted to his act and was fined VND200,000 (US$9).
According to a government decree, public urination carries a penalty of up to VND300,000 ($13).
