Hanoi will
impose fines of up to VND15 million (US$806) for dumping waste in the wrong
places, according to a new decision that took effect Wednesday, the local
newswire Vnexpress reported.
Residents
will be fined VND100,000-300,000 ($5.37-16) for dumping household waste in
unapproved sites.
Trash
spilled during collecting or transporting solid waste will attract fines of
VND5-10 million ($269-538). The highest fine of VND10-15 million will be imposed
on people transporting solid waste to dump in unauthorized places.
The people
who are fined also have to clean up their mess and restore the site to its
normal condition.
