Police in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi said Saturday they are investigating the assault of a man who had his ribs broken for refusing to pay VD60 million (US$2,900) to a duo who cheated him in a dice game.
A report Sunday by news website VnExpress said Nguyen Van Thai, 30, a taxi driver, was assaulted by four men who then forced him to sign an IOU for the amount.
Two of the attackers, Pham Xuan Phong, 32, and Pham Ngoc Sang, 26, have been arrested and the police are looking for the other two, identified only as Thang and Trung.
The police said Phong and Sang had asked Thai to their place to gamble, and attached an electric device to the dice to load them. After Thai lost, they demanded that he mortgage his car.
Whe he refused, they called up Trung and Thang to beat him up.
