Hanoi police have arrested two men for swindling 40 people out of VND10 billion (nearly US$445,000) by promising to help them enter police academies and secure a job in the police force.
Nguyen Van Diep, 32, and Le Van Quan, 30, charged each of the victims VND300 million ($13,400) for a job placement and VND200 million for enrollment.
Diep confessed they began the scam in February 2015.
They faked documents of schools and police agencies to win the trust of the victims.
By November 2015, they had managed to earn a total of VND10 billion.
Police are investigating the case.
