Hanoi police arrested a restaurant owner
on Friday for
allegedly throwing a home-made bomb into a nearby restaurant that he said had stolen attracted most of his customers.
Thieu Van Hieu, 22, admitted to police that he threw the explosive into the restaurant owned by Nguyen Van Tuat, located about 200 meters away form Hieu's establishment, at around 1 p.m. on August 10 as revenge, Tien Phong reported.
Both restaurants serve exclusively duck meat and drinks.
At that time, Tuat was cleaning the restaurant in late evening when he found a bomb with a burning fuse. He threw it into the street and the explosion left no one injured.
Tuat and his younger brother, the only two people at the restaurant at the time, reported the incident to the police.
Investigators found the remains of the explosive, a fuse and Hieu's motorbike left behind.
At the police station, Hieu confessed he bought the materials from a man at the My Dinh Bus Station for VND150,000 and made the bomb himself.
