The director of a Hanoi technology firm was arrested Wednesday for forging the city official's signatures to grant himself the right to over a hectare of municipal land.
Hanoi police also searched twenty-five-year-old Tran Van Minh's home in the neighboring Ha Nam Province. Minh was director of the technology joint stock company TMP Vietnam.
Police have accused him of faking papers to appropriate land in Cau Giay District that was supposed to be used for representative offices of cities and provinces that often do business in Hanoi.
Investigators said Minh had faked documents saying that the Hanoi People's Committee had granted his company the right to manage the land, which is part of the Dong Nam Urban Area project.
Minh had copied the signature of the committee's vice chairman.
Police are continuing their investigation.
