A Hanoian transport company fired a bus driver and a ticket collector who beat up a passenger and forced him to get down on his knees when he wanted to get off the bus.
On October 22, Nguyen Ngoc Phuc of Vinh Phuc Province boarded the bus belonging to the Hanoi Transport and Service Corp. at My Dinh Bus Station in Hanoi.
After a while, he realized the bus was not following its typical route. He complained with Do Huu Long, the driver, and got yelled at by Long and Nguyen Chi Thanh, the ticket collector.
When the bus went past a crossroad, Long stopped. Long and Thanh beat up and insulted Phuc, forcing him to get down on his knees before they would open up the door for him to get out of the bus.
Phuc did not follow their request. Long threatened that he would not release Phuc until the bus arrived at the next bus station.
Many passengers onboard reacted to Long's acts, forcing him to open the door for Phuc to get off the bus.
Long and Thanh were suspended after the case was reported to their employer.
