Flames engulfed a packed bar in Hanoi on Tuesday night, sending hundreds of frightened customers running into the street.
The head of Hanoi's Firefighting Department Nguyen Duc Nghi told Thanh Nien on Wednesday morning that no one was severely injured in the blaze at the Luxury bar the night before -- though a dozen were hospitalized with burns.
The bar, located at 153 Yen Phu Street, caught fire just minutes before midnight on Tuesday, with hundreds of young customers crowded inside.
More than 20 fire trucks and hundreds of Tay Ho District firemen were mobilized to the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the flames broke out on a corner of the bar’s roof and quickly engulfed the two-story building.
Dozens of cars, including Mercedes, BMWs and Audis, were driven out of a neighboring showroom to save them from the blaze after the authorities sprayed them with water to prevent them from catching fire.
Firemen wrested the flames under control after a two-hour battle. However, flames fiercely rose just after the trucks left the scene. Another truck was called to the scene.
Authorities believe the inferno began as an electrical fire.
