Haima typhoon leaves 22 dead in Vietnam

The Haima typhoon that entered Vietnam's coastal waters last Friday has killed at least 22 people and left five others missing as of Tuesday, according to the national floods and storms control agency.

 

The victims were killed by whirlwinds, floods and lightning triggered by the typhoon in northern Vietnam and the central province of Nghe An, said the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention.

 

The second storm to hit the East Sea this year, Haima has also injured 65 people, damaged thousands of houses and destroyed many rice fields.
