Authorities in the northern province of Quang Ninh have suspended the operating license of a cruise operator after its tourist boat sank in Ha Long Bay Sunday.
Hai Long Co. Ltd. will face investigations in the boat accident, the provincial People's Committee said Monday.
Initial information showed that the tourist boat was anchored some 300 meters from Ti Top Island when a boat carrying water collided with it.
Everyone onboard, 28 French tourists, 13 Vietnamese crew members and a tour guide, was rescued by tourist boats anchored nearby.
The boat was salvaged on Monday and has been checked by investigators.
In February, Quang Ninh suspended another cruise operator whose boat sank in Ha Long Bay, killing ten foreign and two Vietnamese tourists.
A Hanoi-based travel agency that organized the tour was suspended as well.
The Ferbuary tragedy prompted local authorities to launch inspections into boats operating in the bay.
Halong Bay is a contender for being named one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
