A group of gangsters in the Central Highlands had chased down a man to his house and kill him in front of his family after he gave them a dirty look.
The victim's father was also brutally attacked and is now in critical condition.
Vuong Quoc Trung, the 32-year-old leader of the gang in Dak Lak Province, gave himself up after the attack on Wednesday night. Eight other members of the gang have been arrested, news website VnExpress reported, citing a police source.
Trung said his gang had a fight with Tuan and his friends at an eatery earlier that night as they believed Tuan gave them “a dirty look."
People there managed to stop them.
Trung then called together around 20 people and carried canes, machetes and iron bars to look for Tuan at his house.
When Tuan opened the door, Trung knocked him down with one stab into his chest.
Tuan’s father Pham Van Hoang and two brothers rushed over only to become victims of a slashing spree.
Neighbors said the gangsters were so violent they did not dare to intervene.
They called the police and helped take the victims to hospital.
The 55-year-old father had a 20-centimeter cut in his head, which broke his skull and left a piece of metal deep into his brain.
Doctors at Dak Lak General Hospital had to perform a surgery to remove the piece, but he is still in critical condition.
One of Tuan's brothers is receiving treatment at the hospital. The other has been discharged.
