Hanoi police have summoned three women and a man for questioning after determining them to be the source of rumors that an Ebola-infected patient was being treated in Vietnam.
Vu Huong Thao, 23, and Nghiem Thuy Trang, 30, and a married couple - Do Thuy Linh, 29, and her husband Vuong Ba Huy, 31, admitted to posting the incorrect information on their Facebook pages on August 11 and 12.
They claimed the non-existent patient had been admitted to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi. Their posts were then shared by other Facebook users.
Police said the information created unnecessary panic.
The four will be punished for spreading false rumors.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that no Ebola-infected cases have been detected in Vietnam.
